Under Heaven: Contemporary Art from China in the Ahmanson Collection
Hai Bo, Li Songsong, Li Zhenwei, Wu Xiaowu, Wu Yiming, Xu Zhen, Yu Honglei, Zhan Wang, and Zhang Jian-Jun
The artwork exhibited in "Under Heaven: Contemporary Art from China in the Ahmanson Collection" was collected by Howard and Roberta Ahmanson after an intensive two-month trip to China. The trip focused on bridging traditional and contemporary Chinese history and culture, with exclusive access to archaeological sites, museum storage, exhibitions, and artist studios. Each work was thoughtfully selected and engages with China's rich cultural history and deep-rooted philosophical concepts while responding to issues faced in contemporary Chinese society.
